2018-2019 Course Selection
9TH GRADE COURSE SELECTION
Fill out this course selection sheet and send it via mail or email to your counselor, or hand-deliver it to the NHS main office no later than 12 noon on April 24. All instructions for course selection are included on the course selection page. See contact information for your counselor below.
Northfield will run an eight-class schedule for the 2018-19 school year. All freshmen must take English, Math, Social Studies, Science and a World Language. Freshmen may take a full load (eight classes) or they may have one period off (seven classes). Having one period off will not put a freshman behind on graduation. Freshmen may use this off period for studying, homework, etc.
All incoming freshmen will receive a mailed copy of their 2018-19 schedule during the week of May 14. After receiving their schedule, students have until 12 noon on May 25 to contact their counselor to request a change.

10TH-12TH GRADE COURSE SELECTION
During the spring of 2018, all returning Northfield High School students will select their classes for the 2018-2019 school year. The timeline is as follows:
May 9, 2018
Each class will meet in the cafeteria. All students will receive a hard copy of their 2018-2019 schedule along with directions. Since 2018-19 Infinite Campus is not available for parents or students to view at home until July 2018, this hard copy is the only way to view a student’s schedule for the next academic year.
May 9 – May 25, 2018 at 12 noon
There will be sign-up sheets outside each counselor’s door for students to meet with their counselor about possible class changes. Students must sign up and go back to class. Counselors will pull the students out of class in the order they signed up. All students must make sure to leave the office with a dated and timestamped new schedule. Make sure to keep this schedule for your records.
Adding a student assistant role must be done during the month of May. No student assistants (for returning students) will be added in the fall.
Class changes not honored:
* Don’t like/want a certain teacher. You selected a class – not a teacher. If the class is on your schedule, it will stay.
* Don’t like the period. You selected a class – not a period of the day. If the class is on your schedule, it will stay where it is.
All schedule changes for the 2018-2019 school year must be made by 12 noon on May 25, 2018. After this date, no adding of classes, no switching periods, adding a student assistant, adjusting of levels (example: AP US History to regular US History) will be made.
All 9th and 10th graders must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 classes. They may have one off-period in the fall.
All 11th and 12th graders must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 classes. They may have 2 periods off in the fall.
