I have been teaching science in Denver Public Schools for the last 22 years. 20 of those years were at John F Kennedy High School and the last 2 have been at Northfield. I have taught biology, anatomy & physiology honors, marine biology honors and IB biology. I have a B.A. in Biology from CU Denver, a M.L.S. in science education from Regis University and a M.A. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix.
I am a graduate of DPS and so is my husband John. We have been married 17 years and have 2 amazing boys. My oldest son Ryan is 16 and is a sophomore and Aidan is 14 and is a 8th grader. We do not have traditional pets as we have allergies but we have an adorable hedgehog named Prickles. We enjoy hiking and kayaking just about every weekend we can! I love to read, garden and spend time with my family and friends. I absolutely adore the ocean and feel most at peace when I am on the beach or in the water. I am a certified Dive Master and love both scuba diving and snorkeling. I am a huge Star Wars fan and going to San Diego Comic Con is on my bucket list!
I really enjoy building lasting relationships with my students. I love when I see the light bulb go on and when I feel that I have helped my students see things through a different lens. I love to share my passion for science, especially for marine science and human biology.
