I am a product of Louisiana. You know, the boot-shaped state! I was raised in the ankle (Lafayette), went to college in the toe (University of New Orleans) and when the waters of Hurricane Katrina filled that boot, sunny Denver seemed to be an ideal place to let my sole dry out.
This new, solid footing allowed me to discover the path that had been eluding me my whole life. Along this path, I met my wife and discovered that teaching is my life’s calling. The level of personal fulfillment gained made me believe that I had traveled to the end of this path. Then, I became a father of twins and a teacher at Northfield High School. The newness, curiosity and unwritten nature of fatherhood and my school have given me more than a path to follow – they’ve made me learn the joy of trail blazing.
