Northfield High School is committed to equity in its operations, academics, athletics, hiring, and cultural practices. Our school community has worked collaboratively to create two detailed plans that will move us forward in our equity goals: Black Excellence and Si Se Puede.
Here at Northfield, we acknowledge that Equity work is never finished, but is a continuous learning process. We strive to create an environment that allows all students to find success and a place to belong. We embrace the feedback of our staff, students, and families to collaborate and imagine with us. The Black Excellence Plan was created in alignment with Black Excellence Resolution that was approved by the DPS school board in February 2019. In forming Northfield’s plan, parents/students/staff were surveyed in 2021 to develop a definition of what Black Excellence means to them. Empathy interviews were also completed with students to understand their feelings and needs at school.
