The Math Department at Northfield High School is committed to providing high levels of rigorous instruction to prepare students for college-level mathematics. Our courses are designed for students to engage in inquiry-based lessons to develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are necessary and relevant in the 21st Century. Students are required to have a graphing calculator for all math courses; a TI-84 is preferred and taught in class.

All incoming Northfield freshmen are placed into Math 1, the DPS district default math class for high school freshmen. Any student who wishes to be placed into a higher math class is required to take and pass a Northfield course placement assessment, as well as meet the criteria for such placement. Please see our Math Placement Policy for more information on the placement test.
