The originally scheduled PSAT-9 and PSAT/NMSQT are now slated for Wednesday, Oct. 18 and Thursday, Oct. 19, respectively. This change is the result of timing associated with the DPS Fall Break, Oct. 12-16, and Northfield’s strong desire to increase all students’ college and career readiness.
Grades 10 and 11, including those sophomores and juniors granted extra time for testing as part of their academic learning plan, will complete the PSAT/NMSQT the morning of Oct. 18. Following the test, all students, grades 9-12 will attend Navy/Even classes in the afternoon. Ninth grade students will complete the PSAT the morning of Oct. 19. Following the test, all students, grades 9-12 will attend Gold/Odd classes in the afternoon. Testing room locations will be posted on Tuesday, Oct. 17, on the Northfield High School website.
The PSAT-9 and PSAT/NMSQT are assessments that measure how well students analyze and solve problems, and whether a student is on track for college and career goals. These tests consist of four multiple-choice sections (reading, writing, math with calculator, and math without calculator) and take about three hours to complete. Ninth graders will complete the PSAT-9, while students in 10th and 11th grades complete the PSAT/NMSQT. In April, 9th grade takes the PSAT-9 again, sophomores the PSAT-10 and juniors the SAT.
PSAT scores contribute to school and teacher ratings as part of the Colorado School Performance Framework.
