As important as it is for students to excel in academics, it is equally important for them to develop diverse perspectives within our ever-changing world. Engaging in stories of culture and diversity provides this foundation. Northfield is lucky to be one of only a few hundred schools in the nation to offer Advanced Placement African American Studies. This year-long course allows students to examine and analyze the Black/African American experience and contributions to society, starting from ancient Africa to the African diaspora, and the Civil Rights Movement to contemporary events. Completion of this course provides an opportunity for students to examine the past while exploring their position in the world and understanding the perspectives of others. Students can sign up to enroll in this course during the Choice of Studies window, Feb. 12-20.
