Northfield students in grades 9-11 will participate in the Preliminary/Scholastic Aptitude Test (P/SAT) Tuesday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 17. On the day students are not scheduled to test, they do not have school. Testing location rosters are available via the Northfield website beginning Monday, April 15.
Please ensure your student(s) come to school each day on time, with their Chromebook fully charged, and computer charger, in case it’s needed during the day. Additionally, students are asked to load the Bluebook app ahead of testing. To do this, students must sign out of their Chromebook and select “Apps” in the lower left portion of the screen and click on Bluebook. Both the SAT and PSAT are preparatory tests required by Colorado Department of Education to assess all high school students in reading, writing, language and math.
The PSAT is important because students can use their scores to identify areas requiring attention and practice before taking the SAT. Maximizing PSAT scores can also lead to significant benefits for students, such as qualifying for the National Merit Scholarship. Once students complete the SAT during their junior year, scores are sent to the colleges they apply to. Learn more about PSAT and SAT scores.
To receive information beyond test scores, families must opt-in to the SAT Suite of Assessments. PSAT scores contribute to school and teacher ratings as part of the Colorado School Performance Framework.
To be in good standing for Prom, juniors must be present for this assessment. Alternately, students can see their math or English teachers to obtain a physical opt-out form; this form must be completed and returned to the same teacher by Wednesday, April 10.
