UPDATED: Northfield Transportation & Parking

Posted August 14, 2024

During the first few weeks of school, traffic on and around campus, as well as parking, can be challenging. Safety should be everyone’s first priority. The use of carpools and public transportation are strongly recommended.

Bicycles and skateboards must be locked on the racks located on the east side near the main entrance of Buildings 2 and 5. Bikes are not to be locked around trees or fences and may be cut off and removed if done so. The school is not responsible for theft or damage to bicycles or skateboards. Students may travel to school on skateboards but are not permitted to ride skateboards on school property.

To find a carpool, visit the NE Denver Carpool connection group on Facebook or Way to Go Schoolpool. RTD bus transportation is free for DPS students. Review the DPS Transportation web page for additional information and bus routes to/from Northfield High School. IDs are required to ride RTD free of charge.

Families who drive their student(s) to school are encouraged to allow extra time and to consider dropping off/picking up on Dallas St. east of the athletic fields (see the map below). Please pay close attention to speed limits, street signs and pedestrians around campus. Parking is NOT permitted within the bus lane on Central Park Blvd.

This year, the north parking lot closest to Buildings 1 and 3 is reserved for seniors with a valid Paul Sandoval Campus parking permit. The lot closest to Northfield Athletic Complex is now open to all students and staff, as well as the public. Parking spots in both lots, unless otherwise marked, are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Seniors will receive a white permit; others are given a black permit. Students may not park in any reserved spots or in the faculty/staff lot on the southeast side of campus. Members of Northfield’s Engagement Team, Campus Safety Officers and DSST will monitor the parking lots in the morning and for the first 15 minutes following lunch.

All students are asked to register their car(s) with Northfield High School, regardless of if they park on campus or on surrounding neighborhood streets. Please complete the car registration form for each car a student may driver to school. Students who obtain their driver’s license throughout the school year must complete the car registration form and then visit Ms. Slater to receive a permit. Ms. Slater’s office is located in Building 5 at the far end of the Main Office. Parking permits and car registration will help Northfield staff members to quickly locate students who park illegally on neighborhood streets and before their car is ticketed or towed.

Students must obey all street signs, as well as refrain from blocking alleys, driveways or fire hydrants; these parking violations are strongly enforced by the Denver Police Department. Students are not allowed to park in the Shops at Beeler parking lot.

Parking violations on and off campus may result in towing of a vehicle. Northfield High School is in no way responsible for towing or ticketing.
