IB Psychology Internal Assessments
This month, seniors enrolled in IB Psychology HL 2 will begin the process of designing, carrying out a psychological experiment and producing a related scholarly report. Students have prepared for this assignment throughout the IB Psychology course and is the Internal Assessment (IA) for IB Psychology.
An IA is a part of all IB courses and contribute 25-30% to the overall 1-7 score students earn for a given IB exam. Past IA topics have included whether taking notes by hand versus on a computer leads to better performance on cognitive tasks, or if the overall physical attractiveness of a defendant will impact the length of time they are sentenced for their crime. To do their best, students should be clear, focused and concise in their scientific writing, and have a strong analysis of their overall strengths and weaknesses when designing their chosen experiment.
