It’s Not too Late: Ninth Grade Academy

Posted June 25, 2024

Class of 2028 Freshmen who will attend Northfield High School in the fall, are invited to sign up to attend the school’s annual Ninth Grade Academy (NGA), Aug. 5-8, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. NGA at Northfield is a four day experience prior to the start of the school year for freshmen to meet their peers and school staff, discuss necessary information about high school, and get a feel for things before school starts. Activities include:

  • Engaging in community building activities.
  • Being exposed to NHS culture and expectations.
  • Working through class schedules and tour campus.
  • Learning how to navigate online school platforms.
  • Meeting their year-long mentor and learn about all the supports available

Why should my student attend NGA?

Studies show students who participate improve their academic performance, have a stronger attachment to their high school and their peer groups, and are more likely to graduate from high school. Along with this, students will also earn 2.5 elective credits for completing NGA and receive some NHS swag.

How do I sign up my student for NGA?

We are thrilled to have many students already registered for NGA at Northfield! If you have already registered, you do not need to resubmit a registration form. However, if you have not yet registered, you can sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/NorthfieldNGA24

I have so many questions about NGA. Who should I contact?

We have created an Ninth Grade Academy FAQ document to answer the most frequent questions we receive. Please review this document prior to reaching out to Northfield Teachers and NGA Site Director, Treyce Glidden. Her contact information is provided on the FAQ document.

We look forward to seeing you at Northfield High School’s Ninth Grade Academy!
