Students enrolled in Northfield’s Career Development & Technical Education (CTE) Principles of Biology course dissected sheep hearts this week. Students completed final autopsy reports following a mock crime scene investigation, and this was a chance for them to compare models made in class with a real heart.
CTE courses enhance a student’s high school experience by providing real-world skills and practical knowledge to prepare them for college and careers. Through relevant, engaging, project-based courses and experiential learning opportunities in Business, Computer Technology, and Biomedical Sciences, students receive hands-on training, mentoring and internships from employers in their community. CTE makes school more relevant, granting students the opportunity to graduate from Northfield High School with college credit (course dependent), industry experience, invaluable professional skills, and even certifications.
