School Policies Reinforced: Student IDs, Parking, Cell Phones

Posted January 13, 2025

As we begin the second semester, please remind your student(s) of the following Northfield High School policies.

Student IDs: Student IDs must be worn at all times while on campus according to district policy. Replacement IDs are available in the Main Office in Building 5 for $5 each and is payable via MySchoolBucks. All Nighthawks must provide their own school-appropriate lanyard to display their student ID.

Parking: The north parking lot closest to Buildings 1 and 3 is reserved for seniors with a valid SENIOR parking permit. The lot closest to Northfield Athletic Complex is open to all students and staff, as well as the public. Students may not park in any reserved spots or in the faculty/staff lot on the southeast side of campus. Members of Northfield’s Engagement Team, Campus Safety Officers and DSST will monitor the parking lots in the morning and for the first 15 minutes following lunch. All student-drivers are asked to sign up for a Paul Sandoval Campus parking permit, regardless of if they park on campus or on surrounding neighborhood streets. Following signup, permits can be collected from Ms. Slater; Ms. Slater’s office is located in Building 5 at the far end of the Main Office. Students must obey all street signs, as well as refrain from blocking alleys, driveways or fire hydrants; these parking violations are strongly enforced by the Denver Police Department. Students are not allowed to park in the Shops at Beeler parking lot. Parking violations on and off campus may result in towing of a vehicle. Northfield High School is not responsible for towing or ticketing.

Transportation: Families who drive their student(s) to school are encouraged to allow extra time and to consider dropping off/picking up on Dallas St. east of the athletic fields. Please pay close attention to speed limits, street signs and pedestrians around campus. Parking is NOT permitted within the bus lane on Central Park Blvd. Bicycles and skateboards must be locked on the racks located on the east side near the main entrance of Buildings 2 and 5. Bikes are not to be locked around trees or fences and may be cut off and removed if done so. Students may not ride bikes or skateboards on school property. The school is not responsible for theft or damage to bicycles or skateboards.

Cell Phones: Cell phones are not allowed in classrooms at any time. This includes the use of AirPods and/or other headphones, etc. Some exceptions are permitted. Students can expect to check devices in when entering classrooms or keep devices in their backpacks. Students are asked to save cell phone use for during passing periods and lunch.
