Northfield Arts Shine: Music, Art, and Nighthawk Pride!

Over the past week, our music and arts programs reminded us what it means to create excellence through opportunity. Across multiple bands, choirs, orchestras, and visual arts classes, our students took the stage and filled the room with performances and artwork that showcased their skill, dedication, and growth. Each ensemble brought its own strengths: the energy and precision of our bands, the richness of our orchestras, and the powerful voices of our choirs.

Our visual arts students added an important layer to these evenings. Their pieces were displayed throughout the room, offering guests a chance to experience the range of techniques and ideas our students are exploring. The artwork complemented the performances, creating a full, immersive showcase of the arts at Northfield.

These events reflect the heart of our school: a community where students are encouraged to challenge themselves, collaborate with one another, and take pride in their growth. What stood out most was the effort behind it all. The performances and exhibitions were the result of countless hours of practice, thoughtful instruction, and a shared commitment to helping students develop as artists and performers.

Thank you to our student artists and performers for the excellence you brought to these events. Your creativity and hard work embody the Nighthawk Way: growing, supporting one another, and taking pride in your craft. And thank you to our music and visual arts teachers—your guidance makes this growth possible.

Weekly Shoutouts

Girls Volleyball

CONGRATULATIONS to the Nighthawk Volleyball Program! The Freshman Team, C Team and JV finished their season two weeks ago. It was a great season for all three teams!

Varsity wrapped up their season on Saturday, going 1-1 at regionals. This was a historic season of many FIRSTS:

The Nighthawk Community is so proud of these girls and all that they have accomplished!

Northfield High School Poms and Cheer Teams DPS League Spirit Champions!

Congratulations to our outstanding Poms and Cheer teams for a spectacular performance at the Denver Public Schools League Spirit Championships! Northfield proudly swept the competition, taking first place in both JV and Varsity divisions for both programs.

The teams demonstrated incredible talent, precision, and teamwork, impressing judges and audiences alike. These wins highlight the dedication of our student-athletes, the support of their families, and the guidance of our coaches who prepare them for excellence both on and off the floor.

We couldn’t be prouder of our Nighthawks for representing Northfield High School with such energy, skill, and school spirit. Way to soar, Nighthawks!

Esports Heading into the Playoffs!

The fall regular season has wrapped, and Northfield Esports is heading into playoffs with exciting momentum! Three teams have qualified for postseason play. Our Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. teams continue their strong, consistent runs by earning spots in the PlayVS Colorado Region playoffs. And for the first time in program history, our Rocket League team has secured a berth in the CHSAA State Championship playoffs as the 8th seed.

In addition, Chess shifted to a solo-play format this fall—and our Nighthawk competitors excelled. Four of our six players finished in the top 10, highlighted by Luke Nevin, who claimed 1st place with a perfect 8–0 record.

Go Nighthawks!

Winter Sports Officially Start Nov. 17

At Northfield this means:

Girls Basketball Tryouts

Support our Students and Staff

Tyler Maldonado and Audrey Harriger talk Turkey Drive with CBS reporter.

Turkey Drive

We’re still collecting frozen turkeys and non-perishable goods through Nov. 17, so there’s plenty of time to jump in and help feed our community.

And keep an eye on CBS Colorado (KCNC, Channel 4) news tonight—they’re airing a story about how this effort took flight and how we hope to grow it into a long-term, sustainable pantry.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s already donated—the response has been incredible. In fact, we’ve had so many turkeys come in that the team is officially in “we-need-more-freezer-space” mode!
