Homecoming & Spirit Week: The Complete Guide
Hello Nighthawk Fans!
Homecoming Week is full of school spirit and excitement. We appreciate the efforts of Northfield students, staff, and community members in making the 2026 Homecoming Week a memorable one.
Theme: Carnaval – Taking this opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by transporting Northfield’s Homecoming to Rio de Janeiro for Carnaval.

Monday, Sep. 28
Hallway Decorating
Student Council is hosting the annual hallway decorating event. Each class is responsible for decorating a wall that relates to the Homecoming theme New York, New York. The hallway decorations are meant to elevate spirit and hype about the dance.
This year, Student Council is decorating their respective hallways on September 28 from 11-3. If students wish to participate in the decorating, they are encouraged to reach out to their class president listed below.

Wednesday, Sep. 30
Parent Pep Rally Fundraiser
- Where: Stanley Beer Hall from 5:30 – 7:30 PM
- Hosted by: Northfield High School Foundation
- Purchase Tickets: $80 per person or only $150 per couple. Receive two drink tickets, heavy appetizers, and a NHS item. Northfield’s Drumline will be there with a energetic performance to kick off the evening!
This annual fundraiser is for adults only and supports school programs while cheering on the teams!
Wednesday Sep. 30
Fight or Flight Flag Football
- When: Wed, Sep. 30 at 4 p.m.
- Where: Football Field
- Who: Juniors vs. Seniors
- Why it’s fun: Watch your classmates battle it out in this long-standing tradition!
Student Council is hosting the annual Junior vs Senior Flag Football Game. Students have joined and practices have begun. The event is held September 30th on the football field at 4 PM. All students are encouraged to join us on the football field after Final 30 to cheer on their peers from the stands. There are games, in-game-competitions, food for sale, and music for all students to enjoy while the game is being played.
If parents/guardians wish to attend, they can do so without checking in at the main office since the event is after hours.
Thursday, Oct. 1
Student Pep Rally
- When: Thu, Oct. 1 from 2:40 – 3:25 PM
- Students and Staff Only: This event is not open to the entire Northfield community as we are at full capacity.
Homecoming Football Game
For those attending the HoCo football game , please review the information below.
- Thu, Oct. 1, 7p.m.
- vs Heritage High School
- All City Stadium, 1600 S. Franklin St., Denver, CO 80218
- Tickets sold via GoFan but do not go on sale until closer to the event.

Saturday, Oct. 3
Homecoming Dance
- Who: Northfield Students ONLY! – no outside guests allowed
When: Sat, Oct. 3
- Where: Cafetorium (Bldg 1)
- Time: 7-10 PM; doors close at 8:30 PM
Eligibility Requirements
- 90% or higher attendance
- No failing grades (No Fs)
- No suspensions
Ticketing
- Tickets are $10 and cover the price of admission and a snack and refreshment during the dance
- Ticket sales start Monday, Sep. 21 and end on Friday, October 2 at 4 PM – no tickets at the door. Get your tickets from Mr. Ritter during lunch, 7th and 8th period (for students with off periods only!), during Final 30, and after school in front of B5.
- Tickets must be purchased in person. In order to purchase tickets, all eligibility requirements must be met. In the chance that a student becomes no longer eligible after purchasing a ticket, a refund will be issued, and students will no longer be able to attend the dance.
- Students who are ineligible to attend the Homecoming game and/or dance due to behavioral concerns will have this communicated directly to their families by their Dean of Culture or a Student Support Liaison.
Safety Measures
- Northfield Students Only – Due to limited capacity and a high emphasis placed on safety protocols, non-Northfield guests are not permitted to attend the dance.
- Physical Student IDs Required –Students must present their physical ID at the door. We will not take printed copies or copies on the phone. Students who don’t have their ID will be turned away and will be given a refund at a later date.
- Doors close at 8:30 pm Entry is not permitted for students that show up after this time without a refund.
- No backpacks, purses are allowed. Students will be turned away. Medical backpacks are permitted.
Substance-Free Expectations Denver Public Schools and Northfield High School are committed to ensuring that the Homecoming Dance is a safe, positive, and memorable experience for all students. To support this, the dance and all surrounding areas are substance-free zones. Alcohol, drugs, and other illegal contraband are not permitted. These expectations apply to all students and guests.
As a reminder:
- No alcohol, drugs, or illegal contraband are allowed on school property, including in the building, parking lot, or surrounding areas.
- Individuals suspected of being under the influence, or found in possession of alcohol, drugs, or other illegal contraband, will be asked to leave. Parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up students immediately.
- Disciplinary actions will follow DPS policies, which may include loss of privileges to attend future school events.
- Dance tickets will not be refunded if entry is denied due to violation of these expectations.
