This month, Denver Public Schools celebrated National Student-Athlete Day by recognizing the top female athletes from each high school across the district. We are incredibly proud to announce that Kandice Kountz was chosen to represent Northfield High School as one of this year’s DPS Outstanding Female Athletes.

This honor isn’t just about performance in competition; it is a celebration of the holistic student-athlete, identifying individuals who exemplify the district’s high standards in the classroom, on the field, and within the school community.

Celebrating the Holistic Athlete

Kandice’s selection by DPS underscores a high school career defined by balance and leadership. To be recognized with this distinction, student-athletes must demonstrate exceptional commitment to:

  • Athletic Performance: Standing out as a leader and top contributor in their sport.
  • Academic Achievement: Maintaining the discipline required to succeed in their studies.
  • Character: Serving as a positive presence in the school community and a model of sportsmanship.

Leading the Way

By being named a DPS Outstanding Female Athlete, Kandice represents Northfield’s commitment to academic and athletic success. Her achievement serves as a standard for future Nighthawks to follow.

Recognition like this is rarely about luck; it’s about the work put in when no one is watching. Congratulations, Kandice, on this well-earned honor and for representing Northfield High School so well.
