Meet Coach RJ Goerner
Coach RJ Goerner has led the Northfield High School Nighthawk Women’s Gymnastics program since 2023. In addition to coaching, she serves as a special education paraeducator at Northfield. A Denver native and graduate of East High School, where she competed on the varsity gymnastics team, Coach Goerner went on to earn a diploma in welding and fabrication and compete for USA Gymnastics (USAG). She brings more than a decade of USAG coaching experience to Northfield.
Coach Goerner’s passion for gymnastics spans 12 years of training and eight years of compulsory and optional-level competition. She has coached athletes across all age groups and skill levels—from early motor-skill development to advanced high school competition—and focuses on creating a supportive team environment that highlights each athlete’s unique strengths and personality.
According to Coach Goerner, an athlete’s mental and physical success depends on what they believe they are capable of achieving. She emphasizes a collaborative partnership between the athlete, the team, and the coach to build an environment where gymnasts excel in both athletic skill and personal growth.
