At Northfield, learning goes beyond the classroom walls—sometimes, it spans the globe. Recently, our IB Spanish 1 students connected live with peers in Peru for an interactive cultural and language exchange that brought conversations, collaboration, and curiosity to life.
On Friday, November 21, our IB Spanish 1 students had an unforgettable experience connecting with peers at Colegio Reina de los Ángeles in Peru through “Connecting Cultures through Languages.” Led by JJ Mendez, the classroom was buzzing with energy as students practiced their Spanish in lively breakout sessions, sharing special celebrations and learning about the daily lives of their international peers.
The activity went beyond a typical lesson. Students switched between English and Spanish, collaborated in small groups, and came together for a full cultural exchange Q&A. It was inspiring to see students actively exploring new perspectives, practicing their language skills, and engaging with the world around them—all in real time.
During the school choice period, consider Northfield, where 95% of our 9th graders are on track to graduate—the highest in DPS. Contact us at nhscommunications@dpsk12.net with any questions.
