Northfield’s first-ever on-campus blood drive with Vitalant was a resounding success — and it was entirely student-led.

Spearheaded by Ocean Pierce and Ellie Richardson, President and Vice President of our HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) chapter, this event was more than a logistical win — it was a powerful demonstration of leadership, service, and community impact.

Ocean and Ellie, along with their HOSA advisors and fellow officers, took the lead in planning and executing the event from start to finish. They worked closely with Vitalant’s team to:

  • Secure the date and on-campus location
  • Coordinate logistics with school staff
  • Manage volunteer and donor sign-ups
  • Promote the drive to students and staff

And their efforts paid off — every single donation slot was filled, with just three by staff members and the rest by students. 95% of the blood collected will go directly to Colorado hospitals, helping save lives right here in our community.

This drive reflects the club’s mission to promote health awareness and community service. For Ocean and Ellie, seeing their hard work come together in such a meaningful way was deeply rewarding.

Huge congratulations to HOSA, Ocean, Ellie, and every student who donated — your dedication and compassion made a real difference.
