Northfield High School junior Brielle Pinther was named the Robert and Judi Newman Rising Star at the Bobby G High School Musical Theatre Awards on May 16, an honor that spotlights exceptional emerging talent in Colorado’s high school theater scene.
The awards ceremony, held at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, brought together hundreds of students, educators, families, and friends to celebrate the best in high school musical theater. Presented by the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the Bobby G Awards are Colorado’s version of the Tony Awards—recognizing outstanding achievement in direction, performance, choreography, and design.
Brielle was recognized for her standout performance as Eurydice in Hadestown: Teen Edition, a demanding and emotionally rich role that she brought to life with remarkable depth and stage presence.
The Rising Star award, sponsored by philanthropists Robert and Judi Newman, is one of the evening’s highest honors. It is given to a student who shows extraordinary promise in musical theater and is poised to make a lasting impact in the performing arts.
“Winning this award was a surreal experience and I am so honored. Eurydice was a challenging role to take on as a performer because she is so complex and human. But I think that’s what makes her so interesting and fun to explore with different acting choices and emotions. I was really able to take my own experiences and channel that into her character. I think earning this award really proves my dedication to her story and definitely what I want to pursue for my future.” Bri Pinther
“This was Northfield’s first year participating in the Bobby G Awards, and we were absolutely thrilled to receive two nominations; Nathan Bicha for Outstanding Lead Performer and Bri’s for The Rising Star” , said Ms. Hanan Al-Naqeeb. “It’s a true testament to our students’ artistry, passion, dedication, and remarkable talent. To top it off, Bri’s recognition as the 2025 Rising Star not only celebrates her hard work but also highlights her as an extraordinary young performer to watch! And watch we will!”
The evening featured show-stopping performances from the five schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Production, along with a medley performed by the ten Outstanding Lead Performer nominees including our very own Nathaniel Bicha for his role as Orpheus. The event was hosted by last year’s winners, Cami Nugent and Connor O’Brian.
Congratulations to Brielle on this well-deserved recognition!
