News from the Nest

Hello Northfield High School families and community,

I’m excited to share an update about our school’s innovation plan renewal process here at Northfield. As an administrator serving on our innovation plan writing team, and as a school leader who has served at multiple innovation schools in Denver Public Schools, I’ve had the chance to see firsthand how innovation status can make a meaningful difference for teachers and students.

As an innovation school, we get the flexibility to design programs and practices that fit our students’ needs and our school culture. Innovation status means more autonomy over things like programming, scheduling, staffing, and budgeting to create the best possible learning environment for all of our students. Over the years, I’ve seen how innovation status has opened doors for schools to implement new structures and given students opportunities to learn in ways that truly engage them.

Some of the benefits of innovation status at Northfield include:

I’m grateful to be part of this work and to share the innovation renewal process with you. Innovation status is a way for us to keep improving, experimenting, and making sure our students have the resources and opportunities they deserve. We will be sharing pieces of our innovation plan throughout the month.  We can’t wait to share more updates as we move through the renewal process.

Dr. Bonnie Martin
9th Grade Assistant Principal
